Mickey Mouse ISO Certification - Accredited by Pluto?
2nd June 2024 by Grant McCormick
I recently seen an advert by QMS stating they are not accredited by UKAS as they are accredited by some other Body, trouble is who are these other bodies and what authority do they have?
As above Pluto can accredit Mickey Mouse but UKAS is still the only National Accreditation Body for the United Kingdom, appointed by government, to assess and accredit organisations that provide services including certification, testing, inspection and calibration – they are also a member of the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and fully recognised by ISO.
While these Non UKAS Cert Bodies offer “fast & affordable” “hassle free process” Certifications, be careful:
“It’s unwise to pay too much, but it’s worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, you lose a little money — that is all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do.”

Knowledgeable companies may not accept these Non or dubiously Accredited Certifications & most will certainly frown on them – not all Certs are equal!
I today received a request to follow a company page of a business that has Non Accredited Certifications which I politely declined & advised. Last week I had a post in my feed boasting of achieving Non Accredited Certification. So even in a professional network awareness still isn’t 100%.
Many businesses devote considerable time, effort & money to reach the high & consistent standards required to achieve Accredited Certification, don’t let their professionalism be undermined by lesser companies that opt for “fast & affordable”, “hassle free processes”
Don’t settle for Mickey Mouse Certifications…
