I came from a strong project background kicking off QMUK in 2001. M&E Quality Engineer for the Main Contractor during the Installation & Commissioning Phase of the Channel Tunnel Project, I progressed through a few sectors to my last position of Quality Mgr for the British Airways New World Cargo Centre.
I set up QMUK to initially offer Mgt Systems & ISO 9001 Certification Consultancy. From my practical background, I was fully aware the last thing people wanted to do was read procedures or fill in forms. However, to gain certifications you have to demonstrate you meet a series of requirements – documenting procedures & creating forms is the easiest & perhaps laziest route.
With more imagination & realizing there was a better way I decided to create a consultancy that offered a more Pragmatic approach creating systems for certification that added value rather than documentation.
I have always looked for practical Mgt & Systems experience rather than 1-week Practitioner or Auditor training courses attended.
2005
Any consultants we recruited over the years were employed for similar reasons, I have always looked for practical Mgt & Systems experience rather than 1-week Practitioner or Auditor training courses attended.
By 2003 we were implementing Environmental, Health & Safety Standards ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18001 (now ISO 45001). In 2005 we started creating systems to address Information Security & ISO 27001. While that took a few years to be adopted by companies, it is now our largest business stream. We now offer many other standards including ISO 22301 Business Continuity & ISO 20000 IT Service Mgt, amongst others.
All of our consultants adopt the same no-nonsense approach to the standards.
