Finding a route to certification is
a minefield – beware of any company telling you it
doesn’t need to be “UKAS” –
government warning . The prospect of achieving certification to a standard
you have little knowledge of & may never have even read,
can be daunting – to say the least. The man-hours
spent interpreting these standards & attempting to create
a compliant system soon accumulate & may not result in great
success. At QM.UK we don’t try to re-invent the wheel,
our consultants are fully trained to interpret the standard
for you, using your specific sector knowledge to create
the best system of working for you. Our philosophy is to
rationalize procedure content & simplify your system. Interacting
with directors, management & personnel we assume the responsibility
of converting your shared knowledge into a working system,
whilst providing in-house training on all elements of the
system & its' subsequent management. We believe this is
the most productive & cost-effective method of achieving
ISO Certification, whilst developing the necessary skills
to effectively maintain them. We do not shroud the standards
in mystery or suffocate them with jargon our process is
simple, robust & as follows: -
Initial meeting to gain
knowledge of your organization & its needs:
While supported by a team, a dedicated
consultant is assigned to your project. During the initial
meeting your consultant will familiarize their self with
your business & explain the entire registration process
to you & your colleagues.
Drafting
of Quality Management System for
your comment/approval:
Your consultant will gather enough
information to go away & produce a Management System
tailored specifically to your business. This system is then
reviewed & approved by our principal consultant prior
to emailing to you.
Incorporation of your comments/Management
System Completion:
During the second visit your consultant
will fully explain the system to you, answer any questions
you may have & agree any changes. Most importantly you
will not only be instructed on implementation but how to
generate evidence that you are working to a system.
Assistance in implementation:
For larger companies there will be
visits to coordinate & maintain momentum towards registration.
For all companies there will be continuous & free support by email &
telephone.
Audit of system & training
of internal auditor/s:
It is compulsory to conduct a full
system audit prior to formal UKAS assessment & annually
following successful registration. Your consultant will
fully audit all aspects of your company to ensure your system
is working for you & your people are effectively working
within it. At this time someone from your company will be
trained to conduct your future audits, leaving you self-sufficient
with no need to pay for our services again! The audits are
left in a simple questionnaire format specific to your company &
it’s processes. The audit can be seen as a “dummy
run” prior to the UKAS assessment.
Subsequent revision of Quality
Management System as required:
Should the audit identify areas for
improvement we will revise your Management System as required.
Assistance in application
for UKAS Assessment:
We will advise of UKAS approved assessment
bodies, help to obtain quotes & arrange date/s for assessment
Preparation for UKAS Assessment:
We will follow-up our audit & ensure
you have adequately addressed any deficiencies found. The
UKAS approved assessment process will be fully explained
to you
Representation/Support during
UKAS Assessment:
The UKAS approved body will not be there to interrogate you; they will merely be looking for evidence that you are compliant with your own system & the standard itself. The process can be daunting to those experiencing it for the first time – fear of the unknown. Your consultant will use their experience to allay those fears & help you point your assessor in the direction of the evidence they are seeking.
While registration to 9001 improves customer perception & gains preference on tenders it does not necessarily mean your company will improve in any way. It only guarantees consistency – as you are working to a system. In fact a poor system could equally gain certification, but merely add bureaucracy to your company. While other companies reduce time-scale & consultancy hours to gain business & increase profit our process is fixed to ensure a manageable system for improvement is put in place & our reputation is maintained. Proceeding registration, your unique system would continue to monitor & measure both customer perception & the efficiency of your organization, providing the catalyst for continual improvement, facilitating & controlling the growth & development aspirations of your company.
Programme duration is normally 3-9 months and is dependant on the size & complexity of your business/organization. We have fast-tracked to 30 days, but that is exceptional.
